President Trump’s senior adviser and tech billionaire Elon Musk, in conjunction with seven Division of Executive Potency (DOGE) staffers, defended the selection of federal govt staff the advisory board has moved to terminate in fresh months, arguing that “almost no one has gotten fired.”

In a wide-ranging hour-long interview on Fox’s “Special Report” with Bret Baier, Musk, in conjunction with seven influential DOGE contributors, shared their view on what govt potency may appear to be, vowed to boost up modernizations of presidency techniques and defended their paintings at the Social Safety Management, which the Democrats have time and again criticized them for.

“There’s voluntary early retirement. There’s voluntary separation payments. We put in place deferred resignation, the eight-month severance program,” Armstrong mentioned. “So, there’s a very heavy bias towards programs that are long-dated, that are generous, that allow people to exit and go and get a new job in the private sector.”

“And you’ve heard a lot of news about RIFs, about people getting fired. At this moment in time, less than 0.15, not 1.5, less than 0.15 of the federal workforce has actually been given a RIF [Reduction in Force] notice,” Armstrong instructed Baier.

Armstrong reiterated Trump’s line that DOGE’s paintings is a “scalpel, not [a] hatchet.”

“And that’s the reason the way in which it is getting accomplished. After which, as soon as the ones selections are made, there is a very heavy focal point on being beneficiant, being worrying, being compassionate, and treating everybody with dignity and recognize,” the DOGE member mentioned on Thursday.

Musk then added that “basically, almost no one has gotten fired. That’s what we’re saying.”

DOGE’s push to overtake the federal government, within the identify of slicing prices, boosting potency and rooting out waste, has ended in hundreds of federal employees being laid off or being introduced a buyout, despite the fact that hundreds have additionally been reinstated following orders from judges in court docket.

Excluding slicing staff, DOGE has additionally moved to dismantle govt departments and companies, having a look to successfully dismantle the U.S. Company for World Building (USAID), an company answerable for dispensing humanitarian support all over the world. Previous this month, a federal pass judgement on dominated that DOGE most likely acted unconstitutionally in an try to shutter USAID.

“I think in the context of the government, we’re moving like lightning. In the context of what I’m used to moving, it’s slower than I’d like,” Musk mentioned on Thursday. “So, what seems like incredibly fast action by government standards is it’s slower than I’d like, to be totally frank.”
