Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) has signed an order “to combat the cartels, stop drug smuggling, and secure Arizona’s border,” the governor stated in a Tuesday information liberate.
The manager order calls for a joint process drive named “Operation Desert Guardian” to be arrange via the Grand Canyon State’s Division of Public Protection, Division of Hometown Safety and Division of Emergency and Army Affairs “focused on the identification, deterrence, interdiction, and dismantling of” transnational prison organizations.
The Arizona Division of Hometown Safety could also be required to deliver in combination the duty drive “and ensure a coordinated, collaborative strategy with state agencies as well as county sheriffs, local law enforcement agencies, and federal law enforcement agencies who join” it.
“I’m proud to launch Operation Desert Guardian to combat the cartels, stop drug smuggling and human trafficking, and secure Arizona’s border,” Hobbs stated within the liberate. “My administration has been in contact with the federal government and local sheriffs about the Operation, its critical objectives, and our shared commitment to keeping criminals and drugs out of Arizona’s communities.”
In November, Hobbs stated she would “work with the Trump administration to continue efforts on border security.”
Then again, requested about Trump’s pledge of mass deportations, she stated she “won’t tolerate erroneous insurance policies that don’t in reality lend a hand with the crucial paintings that’s taking place right here, that you just’re seeing right here as of late, that in reality helps to keep our communities secure and protected.
“I will not tolerate terrorizing communities or threatening Arizonans,” she added.
