Native New York legislator leaping into race 'to turn' Lawler's seat in Congress

An area New York legislator stated Tuesday she is leaping into the race for Rep. Mike Lawler’s (R-N.Y.) seat in an strive “to flip” it.

“I’m a County Legislator, former school board VP, and working mom with a proven record of delivering bipartisan wins for the Hudson Valley,” Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson (D) stated in a Thursday submit at the social platform X.

“Today, I’m announcing that I’m running to flip NY-17 blue, RT & follow my page to stay up to date with my campaign!” Davidson added.

Davidson’s submit additionally featured a screenshot of an editorial from The New York Instances at the native lawmaker’s ambition to carry the seat representing New York’s seventeenth Congressional District.

In November, Lawler fended off a problem for his seat from former Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.), which used to be a setback for Democrats who wanted to regain the district.

The New York Republican touted the efficiency of his birthday celebration in closing yr’s election only some days after Election Day.

“You can look at a district like mine, where Joe Biden won by 10 points four years ago, and when all ballots are counted, Donald Trump very likely will win my district, or come just short, which is significant movement across the country,” Lawler advised NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt on the time.

“So, let me get this straight: Beth Davidson supports NY’s Sanctuary State policies, opposes cutting government waste, and can’t summon the courage to criticize radicals in her party who called for ‘defunding the police’. In other words, she’s Kathy Hochul 2.0 with a dash of AOC. Congressman Lawler wins because Hudson Valley residents see through cookie cutter talking points and baseless attacks by politicians like Beth Davison,” a Lawler marketing campaign spokesperson, Chris Russell, stated in an emailed remark to The Hill.
