Ocasio-Cortez: OMB reversal 'is Trump's first primary loss'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) mentioned the Administrative center of Control and Funds’s (OMB) rescission of its investment freeze memo used to be President Trump’s “first major loss” of his 2d White Area time period.

“This is Trump’s first major loss. When we fight, we win. We may not have majorities in the House and the Senate, but we DO have the power to loudly educate and mobilize against the mass looting the Trump admin is attempting against our veterans, healthcare, education, and more,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a Wednesday publish on social platform X, not up to an hour after the scoop in regards to the reversal broke.

The Administrative center of Control and Funds despatched out a memo Wednesday rescinding an order that briefly halted “all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance.”

The brand new memo, which used to be signed by means of Matthew Vaeth, the place of business’s performing director, used to be issued following a push from GOP lawmakers, The Hill reported. Because the investment freeze used to be instituted, Republican senators have gained plenty of calls from constituents and group leaders expressing fear and confusion over the lack of federal grants.

White Area press secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned the reversal “is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo.”

“Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction,” she mentioned in Wednesday’s publish on X. “The President’s EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s commentary is some other jab since Trump’s win over former Vice President Kamala Harris in November. Ocasio-Cortez has grow to be one of the most president’s sharpest critics, going after a number of of his government movements and skipping the Jan. 20 inauguration.

Her option to Trump isn’t the same as different Democrats, like Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.), who met with the president previous this month at his Mar-a-Lago hotel in Florida and confirmed openness to operating with the commander in leader.

“She understands the importance of being seen doing and saying something. The alternative is letting Trump suck up all the media oxygen again, and that has proven disastrous for Dems,” one innovative Democratic commentator in New York advised The Hill.
