Musk: 'I believe we do wish to delete whole companies'

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who leads President Trump’s Division of Govt Potency (DOGE) fee, mentioned the U.S. must eliminate “many” of its executive companies of their entirety.

In digital remarks Thursday to the Global Governments Summit in Dubai, the Tesla CEO when compared his efforts to root out waste from the government to rooting out weeds from a lawn.

“I think we do need to delete entire agencies, as opposed to leave part of them behind,” Musk mentioned, “because if you leave part of them behind… it’s kind of like leaving a weed. If you don’t remove the roots of the weed, then it’s easy for the weed to grow back. But if you remove the roots of the weed, it doesn’t stop weeds from ever growing back, but it makes it harder.”

“So we have to really delete entire agencies, many of them,” he added.

The remarks come as Musk, within the first few weeks of Trump’s presidency, has led a daring effort to reshape the government — together with providing masses of hundreds of federal employees a buyout from their jobs and being given arguable get entry to to cost techniques throughout the Treasury Division and different companies.

The trouble has ended in a lot of court cases and fierce pushback from Democratic lawmakers and others who say Trump and Musk are running outdoor the boundaries of the legislation. Some federal courts have sought to restrict the scope in their achieve.

Musk, in his remarks Thursday, criticized the U.S. executive as being too bureaucratic and overregulated.
