On Monday, hundreds of protesters around the nation hit the streets to inform Donald Trump and Elon Musk “No kings on Presidents’ Day” based on the barrage of alarming movements—from legally questionable government orders to mass firings—taken via the management for the reason that inauguration.
From California to Florida, demonstrators have been observed armed with indicators that learn “Resist fascism” and “Fight for Democracy,” as they marched towards Trump’s schedule. Some braved freezing temperatures.
“I thought it was important to be here on Presidents Day to demonstrate for what America stands for,” 55-year-old Emily Manning, an engineer who used to be considered one of just about one thousand protesters in Boston, instructed the Related Press. “American values are not the values of the plutocracy or the limited few rich people.”
Lots of the protests have been arranged via the 50501 Motion, a grassroots group aimed toward mobilizing towards “the anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.” The gang began as a decentralized effort born from a Reddit thread of the similar title; it arranged a an identical set of national protests previous this month.
